Hart of The Home, In Chocolate

Welcome to the party, our host is Shelia at Note Songs, and I know you have seen what a lovely kitchen she has.
On Dec.2 I came home to find a 9 ft. waterfall in my dining room. The water pipe up stairs had burst, and ran for 7 hours. It ended up being 40 thousand dollars damage to our home. Needless to say we had no Christmas last year. It took a little over two months to get our house back together. They gave me 24 hundred dollars to find cabinets. At first I thought I had made a mistake. Then I finished the mural, and decided to paint the rest of the kitchen in chocolate. I am happy at it came together in my chocolate kitchen. This is looking from the living room .You can see the kitchen to the left.

You may think the room is dark, but I don't have the under counter lights on, so you can see the mural better. I painted it and put a coat of polly acrylic on so you can wash it. I like to change things,so I didn't want tile. This way ,when I want to change the look,I just start painting.

We had the fridge to stop working, so off to Lewes and new fridge. We had a side by side and when I found this one I knew it was the one for me. I just love the freezer on the bottom.

I turned the overhead light off, so it wouldn't glare off the glass in the painting.
Thank you for stopping in to take a look at my chocolate kitchen. I left coffee and a sweet treat for you. This is the living room after the redo.

Oh mercy, I can't even imagine the feelings of coming home and finding your home under water. I'm so sorry that happened to you but it appears you made lemonade out of lemons. Your kitchen re-do turned out lovely! It's nice to see something so unique and personal on your backsplash. Anyone can have tile but not everyone can hand-paint their own mural! Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Kathy,

I love your kitchen, especially your wonderful backsplash. I've seen it before, when you first finished it. You really don't need things on top of your cabinets as that would detract from your painting.

Check out my book giveaways.

Hi Kathy! I'm so sorry about your water leak, but what a gorgeous kitchen you got from it! You know how I love your painting talent! Your backsplash is so lovely! Only you could say - when you tire of it you could paint another one! :) You're blessed, Dear One.
Thank you so much, Kathy, for coming to my party.
You are a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Kathy,
Your art is beautiful. I know what it is like to have catastrophic water damage. Fortunately, sometimes it's an opportunity to end up with something better.

I do love the chocolate color also!! Beautiful kitchen and your living room is gorgeous also. It is interesting that you have art in shops in PR, especially Vieques! My husband is from Barranquitas so we love it there. I have not been to Vieques though.
